Trump Taj Mahal was built in 1984 for nearly 1 billion dollars. Even though it was the top grosser in NJ, it was still in trouble and was in and out of bankruptcy for years, not by trump but by Carl Icahn who purchased it from Trump and had to take bankruptcy.

It was not owned by Trump since 2013. He had no financial interest in it. Since New Jersey was democratic controlled and the c virus was affecting everything, the casino did not have chance of survival. This was one of the last chances the democrats can stick a finger in Trumps eye.

What they don't realize is that this casino has been a thorn in Trumps side for a long time and he is ok with it being gone.

They are going to pave it for a parking lot until a project can be decided upon and financed.
